Love, guess what? We are celebrating FOUR YEARS of Wholehearted Coaching: The Podcast!!

What started as a simple endeavor has blossomed into a cherished space for connection and growth for me. The podcast is honestly one of my favorite parts of coaching because I get to connect one-on-one and so vulnerably with you.

With each episode, we've embarked on a journey of self-discovery and shared experiences. And even though we are celebrating, we almost did not.

When I realized we’d hit this milestone, I thought to myself “Yeah, 4 years is a big deal, but is it really?? Is this really that big a deal to celebrate and acknowledge it? Maybe we should just keep going as planned…”

Love, have you ever said any of those things to yourself? When you have a win in your life, do you try to talk yourself out of it? Maybe there’s so much else you need to do. Maybe you try to minimize the accomplishment because there’s something bigger out there to achieve.

When I became aware of this self talk that 4 years wasn’t worthy of a celebration, I had to pause and practice so much of what I share and teach in Wholehearted Coaching. Because I am in this with you and love, we do not celebrate ourselves enough.

Recognizing the Importance of Celebrating Wins

As we go after our big goals and dreams, it's so easy to overlook the wins and achievements that pave the way. Maybe you had a “small” sin like sending a dreaded email or a “big” win like landing a dream job. No matter how “big” or “small,” we are accomplishing things each and every day and our accomplishments deserve acknowledgment. Yet, many of us downplay these wins, dismissing them as insignificant or unworthy of celebration.

Let’s do a practice together.

I want you to think of something in the recent past that you could have celebrated, but you you decided not to.

Now, I want you to think of what stopped you.

What stopped you from taking a moment from pausing and acknowledging, celebrating, or praising yourself? What were the thoughts and the beliefs that stopped you?

When I’ve done this exercise in one of my workshops, I’ve received thousands of answers. Here are some of the most common ones:

  • I feel like it's not good enough

  • I don’t see the things I do as accomplishments

  • I couldn’t think of any things that were worth celebrating

  • I should have done this thing earlier

  • I’m afraid of the other shoe dropping

We often talk ourselves out of celebrating, giving reasons like a lack of time or a fear of appearing boastful. This one hits so close to home for me. Societal norms also play a role, conditioning us to be humble and modest about our successes. However, embracing self-celebration is not selfish; it's an essential practice for nurturing self-worth and sustaining motivation.

Embracing Micro-Celebrations

While grand gestures have their place, micro-celebrations are equally impactful. Whether it's a spontaneous dance party or a heartfelt self-affirmation, these small acts of celebration release dopamine, reinforcing the link between effort and reward.

By incorporating micro-celebrations into our daily lives, we cultivate a sense of joy and fulfillment in the ordinary moments.

Simple Celebration Practice

Before you leave today, I want to give you one of my favorite simple celebration practices. It’s called Stop, Pause, Savor.

Here’s how you’ll do it:

  • Stop. Take a moment right where you are.

  • Pause what you’re doing.

  • Savor in this very moment.

Try to find the things that make this very moment so special to you. The things that are seemingly small, but really are so big.

For me, here I am. Writing this out. In my pajamas. I’m warm inside. It’s snowing outside. I have my aromatherapy going. I’m feeling so much gratitude for this life that I’ve created which allows me to be in connection with such an amazing community. And I get to do it on my own terms and in my own way.

There is so much to savor right now.

As we journey forward, let's remember to stop, pause, and savor the present moment. By celebrating your wins and finding joy in the everyday, you lay the foundation for achieving the extraordinary.

So here's to four years of growth, gratitude, and wholehearted coaching.

About your host, Shirin Eskandani

Hi, love! I’m Shirin.

Coach, speaker, writer, and life alchemist.

I teach you how to listen to your intuition again, tune out all the BS, and let your heart lead the way.

Because once you strengthen your inner GPS, decisions become easier, boundaries become clearer, and belly laughs become a daily thing.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME:

  • I’m a certified life coach (accredited through the International Coach Federation)

  • My husband and I met on Instagram and we live in Brooklyn, NY with our plant babies

  • I have a masters degree in Music and was a professional opera singer for twelve years.  I worked all over the world singing on stage at Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera (more on that later…).

  • I believe in the woo just as much as I do the work (internal and external).  No amount of crystals and affirmations will make up for a lack of a healthy mindset and aligned action.

  • I love all the Real Housewives franchises.  Don’t make me choose one… seriously, don’t.
